APPRENTICESHIP
Electrical Appenticeship - 4 Year Program

Once in the program students work 40 hour weeks with an ABC member contractor and attend classes two nights a week 9 months of the year. Classes are held at the ABC offices and at other locations around the valley. The electrical classes, held in partnership with the Community College of Southern Nevada, earn participating students college credits towards a degree in Electrical Theory and Applications. Each year students must complete approximately 1600-2000 hours of on the job training and attend a minimum of 145 hours in the classroom (with a passing grade for each course module) to be advanced.

The minimum pay scale is regulated by our state-approved standards but ABC contractors support the merit shop philosophy allowing many apprentices to make more than the minimum once they have proven themselves on the job.

Apprentices are liable for the costs of their books and tools. First-year books and tools are approximately $600.00 to start depending on the trade.

All ABC apprentices are offered the ABC medical plan, which includes medical & dental coverage. Students may chose to setup separate insurance coverage for dependents with the ABC insurance broker.

ABC member contractors who employ ABC registered apprentices receive wage break benefits on Davis-Bacon jobs. In addition to prevailing wage breaks, a participating contractor benefits by having a highly qualified workforce resulting in an extremely viable competitive edge.
