The Trump Taj Mahal is one of the most well known and most widely visited casinos on the East Coast of the United States of America. Located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the East Coast’s very own Vegas, the Trump Taj Mahal has been the center of a lot of controversial attention. As financial struggles continue for this highly popular craps destination for rollers from near and far, the tensions with workers in regards to their contracts have also increased.
When the potential promise of a bail out from the multi-millionaire Carl Icahan arose, a judge was faced with a difficult decision. Icahan made the proposal to bail out the bankrupt casino to the tune of $100 Million in exchange for things being done exactly the way he ordered and wanted. In addition to tax break demands and other legal negotiations, his conditions involved canceling and voiding all union contracts with the current staff of the Trump Taj Mahal, an issue which has been driving tensions for months.
The craps tables will, however, be remaining open! A federal judge recently ruled in favor of the bail out. During a recent bankruptcy hearing the union contracts have been officially voided. Icahan, a craps player himself, has perhaps taken the biggest gamble of his life on the Trump Taj Mahal. With a statement to the judge who ultimately ruled in his favor, he said that even if strikes are a result of the voided contracts he plans to move forward with his plans to bail out and regroup the casino.
While there do exist other casinos in Atlantic City which offer games of all types, the craps shooters who have come to know and love the Trump Taj Mahal as a favorite destination can be at ease knowing that the rulings have been made and the Taj Mahal shooters will live to roll another day.
